david hockney inspired collage
David Hockney was born on July 9, 1937 in Bradford. He is a photographer who made photo collages and called them "joiners". They were made accidentally and became big. My artwork relates to his because they're just images placed upon one another.
magazine cover
The reason i chose to do the magazine i did was because that magazine showed many artists who are into fashion and it related to my subject. I like it because it goes with the theme. The way i emulated the magazine cover was by looking at a picture of the magazine. The font i used was the regular one and the color was light yellow because it goes with the color of the title. I didn't really use much for my set up but i created my photograph by having him pose with his hands together. A strobe light is a light that regularly flashes. A modeling light previews where the light is falling on your subject. A soft box is a photographic lighting device. A reflector reflects light in a required direction. A grey card produces consistent image exposure. A radio trigger system fires a flash gun when the camera fires.

del mar fair write up
The title of my piece is called “pink in the morning, a sailor’s warning. Pink at night, a sailor’s delight.”(Lamoo 12). This image was taken outside my house approximately around 6:15am. The compositional rule for this image would be leading line because the horizon is leading up to the main focus which is the clouds. The camera and lens I used for this picture was my cellphone. I didn’t use any hardware or software for this image. My image is in division 4701 which is color photography because it’s a sunset and the colors blend into the picture well.

composite project
I used layer masks for 4 of my pictures and i blended the clouds above the trees while adding fire to the bottom of my picture. I added diamonds and sparkles to the picture so that it goes with the song i used. The song i used was Rolex by Ayo and Teo and the passage said, "i just want some ice on my wrist so i look better when i dance have you looking at it put you in a trance..my Rollie don't tick tock it just glide keep daring at it and you might go blind..my diamonds going retarded... i just want a Rollie."

A mandala is a geometric shape created in a circle
tessellations
Tessellations are a piece of a picture fitted in a little piece of a square and using the picture again multiple times creating an outstanding shape and having a complete picture of shapes that come together. I opened up a picture in photoshop and fit the picture into a little square of a big square and used it as many times as indicated but rotated and flip as needed to create a pattern. I really liked how my picture came out once completed and how they formed cool shapes. I struggled with figuring out if it was flipped horizontally or vertically. If i could do this again i wouldn't do it differently because i was pretty satisfied with my images.
portraiture
What I learned about portraiture from going to the duck pond was that the way you pose and the certain lighting and background you use can turn a really dull and awkward picture into an amazing and outstanding photograph. I used a sheet of paper that had certain poses and they were really helpful because it was like a guide for our pictures. The reflector was used in many ways because there was a lot of tilting and going on the ground to reflect it on their face but it made the pictures not look dark and the model look bright. I photoshopped some red marks or marks on the faces of the models so they could look smoother.Positions that use portrait photography are up close and personal. The people who hire portrait photographers are sometimes famous people some are models and some are just people who want portraits. The salary range of a portrait photographer is $8 to $10 per hour. The average charge for portrait photographs is around $185.
education for all
This picture that i have taken represents the title Education For All because this female student seems like she is working hard and striving for achievement. As you can see she has her papers all over her desk and includes a bit of detail by having her calculator out there. Her smile represents her excitement for achieving hard work and working for success.
food photography
For my food i brought cookies, cinnamon rolls, croissants, and milk. For the crops i used a silver plate, a white table cloth, a white cup filled up with coffee beans and a cloth. Five things i learned about food photography were that photographers focus on fixing the areas of the food they'll be taking pictures of not the whole entire food, they also use white backgrounds or a white tent, they focus on one thing to make the rest the background, them zoom in or get close to the food to make it more "in life",
name
The steps i did in photoshop to create my name were i opened a file in the 231 common drive and it gave me a 4 letter template from there i dragged my images and sized them correctly to match the template then i merged all layers and saved the image as a photoshop file and a jpeg file. The steps i kind of struggled with was when taking the pictures i couldn't really find the letter R but eventually found something. In photoshop i struggled with getting the images to the correct size because they were either too small or too big. I was proud of how my name turned out i wasn't really expecting to be able to tell my name but it ended up being clear to read. The thing i like best about my artwork is that all 4 images i used have a creative detail to them, for example the y has a cool design to it because of the mosaic and the chain on the R is what completes it to be an R. Something that i wish i could improve on my artwork would probable be to size them correctly and maybe take all images from the same angle.
rainy day
Layer masks
The career that i see myself in, in the future would be a primary care physician, and my ideal day would be waking up early in the morning to go to work and reviewing appointments that may come up during the day, then start treating patients the whole day and some lunch in between, and at last going home late at night.
These are the girls from pretty little liars and i chose them because i didn't know who else to pick and my friend told me to choose them The steps i did in photoshop were i opened this image in photoshop and changed image size afterwards i cropped my face out of one of my faces and pasted it on a character then i scaled it and added a layer mask, then i went over with the paintbrush to erase any harsh marks to make my face fit into hers when i was done i merged the images and then saved it.

Principles of art
This is a photo of poles. The principle is within the pols and how they line up. This image is successful because it shows how the poles are balanced and theres no people in the background.
This is a picture of my partner standing next to a palm tree. The principle is within the palm tree and my partner because it defines proportion. The image is successful because there is no random junk in the background and the principle is in focus.
This is a picture of my partner and a classmate shaking hands. The principle is within them walking and greeting each other. The image is successful because it shows what rhythm is and how it creates movement.
This is a picture of a charging port by the quad. The principle is right in the center. The image is successful because it has the principle in focus and there is no random people in the back.
This is a picture of the lunch tables by the quad. The principle are the tables because it shows how the colors are mixed together and blend in. This image is successful because it has the principle in focus.
This is a photo of my partner standing in between a variety of doors. The principle is behind my partner, there are multiple doors. This image is successful because it shows what variety is.
This photo is of a tree. The principle is within the leaves and branches because they mix in together and create a whole. The image is successful because it has the principle in focus.
Elements of art
This is a picture of stairs by the black top. the element is to the left side of the stairs which is the shadow. This image is successful because the element is in focus and theres no random people in the background.
This is a photograph of the basketball court. The element is within the whole picture. It is successful because theres no junk in the background and it defines the element.
This is a picture of grass. the element is everywhere in this picture. It is successful because the element is focused and it gives a good definition of the element.
This is a photo of a lock, locked onto a fence. The element is centered in this image. The picture is successful because it shows the element and is focused.
This photo is a basketball net. It was taken on the blacktop. The element is within the net. The image is successful because it has the element in focus.
This photograph describes the element of color. It was taken by the lunch area and caught my attention because of the hidden art. The element is within this whole picture because there is color everywhere. This image is successful because it is obvious what the element is and the setting is really good.
This photograph describes the element of line. It is a picture of bars. The element is within the bars. It gives a really good definition of what line is. This picture is successful because it's not too dark or too light and it shows what the picture is talking about.
Elements of art
- The building block of design
- All good design will have one or more of these elements: line, color, shape, form, texture, space, and value.
- A line is one dimensional vary in width, direction, and length. Lines also can define the edges of a form. Lines can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, straight or curved, thick or thin. Lines lead your eye around the composition.
- Color has three main characteristics; hue, red, yellow, green, value-how dark it is,and intensity-how bright or dull it is,or warm-red yellow or cold- blue and green.
- Monochromatic- one color plus its tints adding white or shades adding black.
- Complimentary colors- colors opposite each other on the color wheel.
- Analogous colors- colors next to each other on the color wheel
- Form is three dimensional, has height, and width and depth.
- The surface quality of an object that we sense through touch. All objects have a physical texture (think- horse hair, dolphin smooth).
- Real space is three dimensional. Space in a work of art refers to a feeling of depth or three dimensions. It can also refer to an artist’s use of the area around the picture plane.
- Positive space- the space occupied by the primary object.
- Negative space-
- Value is the lightness or darkness of a surface. It is frequently used when talking about shading but it is also important in the study of color.
- The principles of art are the rules or guidelines of art.
- Used to organize or arrange the structural elements of design
- Principles are balance, proportion, and unity.
- Symmetrically- the same on both sides, like a butterfly wing or asymmetricaly.
- Proportion relates to the relative size and scale of various elements in a design specifically the relationship between the objects.
- Rhythm in an artwork indicates movement by the repetition of elements. Rhythm can make an artwork seem active.
- Emphasis is to make one part of an artwork dominant over the other parts. It attracts the viewer’s eyes to a place of special importance in an artwork.
- Harmony is the pleasing quality achieved by different elements of a composition interacting to form a whole.
- Differences achieved by opposing, contrasting, changing, elaborating, or diversifying elements in a composition to add individualism and interest.
- Unity is the result of bringing the elements of art into the appropriate ratio between harmony and variety to achieve a sense of oneness. It is the sense that everything works together and looks like it fits.

respect
This picture shows respect in many ways. One way is the the longhorn represents our school which is basically saying respect the school. Most of us don't really focus on having respect for the campus we just come and treat it horrible throwing trash everywhere or getting it messy. Another example on how this shows respect is the way my partner is showing face expression. He's serious because we should stay serious on how we treat our school don't goof around and treat it like a bad place we should all treat it as if it were something really special to us. Not only is he serious but he's got a hit of a smirk in there representing that deep down inside us we should feel proud of having such a wonderful campus.
Light Painting
1. These images were taken on a tripod in a dark room on manual mode. We used the app my light paint.
2. At first we were using a glow stick but it was really faded and it wouldn't really capture the image.
3.
4. You can create multiple images with light paintings and if you move around the image looks like you duplicated.

1. You change the camera to be shutter speed priority by switching to the "s" symbol.
2. When the shutter speed changes the picture either comes out really focused on the people who are in motion or it looks kind of blurry.
3. You would want to use shutter speed as priority to use it in situations where you want to get a picture that is in motion and get it focused.

Shutter speed
- Shutter speeds are both a technical and aesthetic choice a photographer needs to make before releasing the shutter.
- The shutter inside your camera controls the duration of time the sensor is exposed to light.
- Capturing blur or motion in your photograph can emphasize movement and add drama.
- A fast shutter speed is often utilized to freeze the movement of a subject.
- A slower shutter speed can be used to show motion and visualize movement.
- Shutter speeds are expressed as seconds or fractions of seconds.
- As a general rule to prevent unintentional camera shake you should avoid handholding your digital cameras at shutter speeds slower than 1/2x focal length.
- Using a tripod can help eliminate camera shake.
- The visual blur and suggestion of movement occurs because the subject is moving against a static background.
- Layering motion of different subjects moving different directions at different speeds can set up interesting dynamics within a photograph.
- Fast shutter speeds can make normal subjects appear to freeze in the air.
- When photographing people running relatively close to the camera a shutter speed of 1/1000 second or faster should freeze most motion.
- Slow shutter speeds combined with panning can help isolate the subject from a busy and distracting background.
- A tripod combined with a long exposure can capture the fireworks trails.
- Water movement can be emphasized with long exposures.
Steps: 1. Put your digital negative picture on top of a watercolor paper.
2. Expose your paper to full sun for 5 minutes.
3. Before being exposed to sun the picture was a yellowish color and then turns into a blue and white color.
4. Rinse the picture in water and add 3% of hydrogen peroxide.
5. let it air dry.

Photogram
- Daguerreotypes had both a positive and negative image.
- The inventor of the daguerreotypes was Louis Daguerre, it was discovered in 1839.
- The process of a daguerreotype is a silver-plated copper plate getting buffed and polished until it’s similar to a mirror, the plate then is sensitized to light over iodine and bromine in specialized light-proof boxes.
- Daguerreotype- a photograph taken by an early photographic process employing an iodine-sensitized silvered plate and mercury vapor.
- After putting the image in water it turns bright blue.
- John Herschel was the inventor of the cyanotype and it was discovered in 1842.
- Cyanotype is made out of potassium terricyanide and ferric ammonium citrate.
- You place a negative to reproduce a photograph or an a object to make a photogram in contact with your coated paper or fabric and sandwich it with a piece of glass and expose it to UV light, the traditional way to do it is by sunlight but UV lamps work as well.
horse to the rescue
The horse dragged the ninja around and to finish him off he got on top of him and killed him. They were so glad that this terrible nightmare was over. Finally they all settled down and when the owner got back it seemed as if nothing ever happened. In the end they all felt relieved and lived happily ever after.
There was a horse who was the biggest from all the other animals. He heard the pig struggling and immediately in a very sneaky way he went behind the ninja. All of a sudden the horse kicked the ninja and the ninja fell to the ground. All the other animals were cheering and were so happy that the horse had defeated the ninja. They then didn't know what to do with the ninja so they just decided to kill him.
On a stormy night the animals were all asleep. All of a sudden they heard a noise. They all jumped up with fear. Then they saw the ninja trying to take the pig away. The pig was fighting, moving, struggling, and snorting.
Once upon a time there was a little farm far far away. The farm had horses, goats, sheep, pigs, etc. The farmer had gone on a long trip and thought the animals would be perfectly fine. What he didn't know was that there was a ninja trying to go after the pig for a really long time.
Out of the 3 pictures 1 of them came out with a blur on the first box and the other 2 looked somewhat similar but the lighting changed. Aperture f/1.8 blurred the first box and focused mainly on the center and last box. Aperture f/8 has a bright lighting which makes the boxes light and aperture f/16 changes the lighting to dark whack makes the boxes darker.
- As a photographer an important thing is make sure the viewer knows how to read your image.
- Wide = shallow
- Digital camera uses ⅓ apertures
- Large aperture = small f stop
- Small aperture = big f stop
Digital Camera Basics
- DSLR stands for “digital single lens reflex”
- A digital camera that uses mirrors to direct light from the lens to the viewfinder
- The amount of light collected by the sensor in your camera during a single picture
- If the shot is exposed too long the photograph will be washed out
- If the shot is exposed too short the picture will appear too dark
- Mostly all cameras today have light meters
- Before taking a photo consider these 3, aperture , shutter speed, and ISO
- A hole within a lens through which light travels into the camera
- A smaller f-stop means a larger aperture and a larger f-stop means a smaller aperture
- Small apertures increase the depth of field, bringing both the main subject and background into focus
- Large apertures soften background details
- “Exposure time” stands for the length of time a camera shutter is open to expose light into the camera sensor
- If the shutter speed is fast, it can help to freeze action completely
- Shutter speeds are typically measured in fractions of a second, when they are under a second
- The slowest shutter speed for hand held photography is 1/60, lower than that must be on tripod or on solid surface
- ISO is the level of sensitivity of your camera to available light
- The lower the ISO number, the less sensitive it is to the light, while a higher ISO number increases the sensitivity of your camera
- The component within your camera that can change sensitivity is called “image sensor”
- With increased sensitivity your camera sensor can capture images in low light environments without having to use a flash.
- Bright and sunny, 100 iso
- Cloudy, 250 iso
- Indoors, 500 iso
- Night time without a flash, 1600 iso
- M- manual control over aperture and shutter
- A- aperture priority
- S- shutter priority
- P- camera sets shutter speed and aperture
- Have the camera strap around your neck at all times and hold the camera by the lens and hand grip if possible, treat with care!
Camera Obscura means dark room. It's a dark room with a hole through a window and the light from the outside hits the dark room but when it reflects the image on the wall its upside down so people use a mirror to get it right side up.

I took this photograph by the 300 bathrooms, on the mural outside the men's bathroom. The reason I took it there was because the mosaic really caught my attention and the different colors placed all together looked really interesting.
First I used the app Pixlr and cropped the sides off, then I slightly contrasted the picture and added a little bit of highlight and to finish it I added a flowery border. Next I used Snapseed and used -10 frame width of white border, I then added 60 horizontal perspective and to finish that off I brightened the bark of the tree.
This image relates to me because even though it isn't a realistic tree it still symbolizes the beauty of nature. It also relates because the flowers are pink and that's my favorite color, and the soccer ball I added on to my picture describes the love I have for soccer and how I enjoy playing it.
